Comprising one generously proportioned pitcher and four charming handled glasses, this collection beautifully captures the playful elegance of Scandinavian mid century design. The name Grapponia evokes clusters of grapes, reflected in the intricate arrangement of raised glass dots and circular floral medallions covering each piece. These richly textured surfaces catch and scatter the light, creating a delicate interplay of brilliance, transparency, and shadow. The refreshing yellow green color adds a distinctive character, making the set equally attractive on a dining table or displayed as a decorative collection. An especially fascinating feature is its uranium glass appearance. Under ordinary lighting, the glass reveals a luminous lime green tone, while ultraviolet illumination produces the striking fluorescent green glow shown in the photographs. This dramatic transformation offers another dimension of enjoyment for collectors of vintage and fluorescent glass. The substantial pitcher and four smaller handled glasses form a visually harmonious ensemble, with matching decorative patterns and beautifully balanced proportions. Minor scuffs and fine scratches reflect their vintage age, but no noticeable chips or cracks are present. A distinctive example of Finnish glass design, bringing together color, texture, and the enduring appeal of Nanny Still's Grapponia collection. Authentic vintage Scandinavian glassware sourced in Japan and shipped directly from Japan. Promotional Tags Nanny Still Grapponia Riihimaki Finnish Vintage Nordic Glass Scandi Modern Mid Century Uranium Glass Vaseline Glass Green Glassware Pitcher Set Vintage Mugs Retro Tableware

This vintage ceramic owl figurine was designed by Lillemor Mannerheim and produced by Arabia Finland as part of a WWF series associated with the World Wide Fund for Nature. Dating to the 1960s, the piece combines a deep appreciation for wildlife with the refined simplicity and organic forms characteristic of Nordic modern design. Its beautifully streamlined silhouette captures the essence of an owl through a remarkably restrained composition. The softly rounded head, delicately modeled facial features, and elongated wings flow naturally into a sculptural body. The open spaces beneath the wings and the architectural shape of the pedestal create a striking balance between solid form and negative space. A subtle grayish beige glaze covers the upper body, gradually transitioning into a creamy white surface. Under changing light, the glaze reveals a delicate pearlescent shimmer, adding depth and quiet elegance to the smooth ceramic form. The small dark eyes and sharply defined beak bring an unexpectedly expressive personality to its otherwise minimalist appearance. The underside bears the Arabia Finland factory mark, the WWF panda emblem, and the designer's Lillemor signature. These markings are visible in the photographs and form an important part of the object's identity. The figurine remains in very good vintage condition, showing minor surface wear and fine scratches acquired over time, without major visible damage. Its gentle signs of age are consistent with a cherished vintage ceramic object. Whether placed on a bookshelf, displayed alongside other Scandinavian ceramics, or enjoyed as a solitary decorative sculpture, this owl brings a sense of calm, warmth, and understated sophistication to its surroundings. An appealing piece for admirers of Nordic design, vintage pottery, and the beauty of the natural world. Authentic vintage ceramic sourced in Japan and shipped directly from Japan.

This vintage ceramic wall plaque, titled Fåglar (Birds), was designed by renowned Swedish ceramic artist Lisa Larson for Gustavsberg during the 1960s. It belongs to her celebrated UNIK series, a collection of nine distinctive ceramic relief designs that beautifully reflect the character of Scandinavian mid century design. Two stylized birds occupy the center of the square composition, surrounded by small flowers and leaves. Their elongated silhouettes, intricate feather patterns, and gently raised details create a delightful balance of playful imagination and sophisticated artistry. Warm earthy browns and soft greens are complemented by deep blue floral accents, bringing depth and rhythm to the entire surface. The textured background, incised lines, and glossy glazed reliefs give the plaque a distinctive handcrafted appearance. Its combination of geometric simplicity and organic decoration makes it equally appealing as a ceramic artwork and a decorative object for a thoughtfully arranged interior. The front bears the impressed LISA L. signature, while the reverse features the GUSTAVSBERG SWEDEN mark and an integrated opening for wall hanging. The piece remains in good vintage condition, with minor scratches and signs of age consistent with its history. Whether displayed on a wall, placed among a collection of Scandinavian ceramics, or enjoyed as a focal point in a quiet living space, this expressive work offers the enduring warmth and individuality of Lisa Larson's artistic vision. Its form—slightly flared at the rim with a firm, rounded body—embodies the shift from the refined elegance of the Southern Song period to the more robust and expressive forms of the Yuan era. The carved wave-like motifs and lotus-petal patterns surrounding the body create a dynamic rhythm, characteristic of Longquan wares of this time. The glaze presents a soft, muted bluish-green tone known as “funsei,” a slightly opaque celadon that diffuses light with quiet depth. In areas where the glaze gathers, a delicate pale tone emerges—subtle yet luminous, revealing the true beauty of Longquan celadon at its finest. Across the surface, fine crackles known as “crazing” have developed over centuries. These lines are not flaws, but records of time—formed through natural aging and the differences in contraction between glaze and body during firing. At the foot, the exposed clay reveals a reddish-brown hue known as “fire color,” created when iron within the clay oxidizes during cooling. This is an important and authentic characteristic often seen in genuine antique Longquan ceramics. Inside the bowl, a notable cross-shaped crackle (or old hairline) can be observed. However, there is no water leakage, indicating that the glaze layer remains well-integrated or that the body has retained a highly dense and stable structure over time. This is a vessel where material, fire, and time converge— quietly carrying the presence of centuries into the present day. A remarkably powerful and time-worn piece of great beauty. Authentic Japanese antique sourced in Japan and shipped directly from Japan. Promotional Tags Longquan celadon 龍泉青磁 Yuan dynasty bowl 元代茶碗 Celadon chawan 青磁茶碗 Antique china bowl 中国古陶 Song style form 宋様式 Wabi sabi bowl 侘び寂び Zen tea bowl 禅茶碗 Old kiln piece 古窯作品 Green glaze bowl 青釉茶碗 Crackle glaze 貫入青磁 Rare celadon 稀少青磁 Museum style 美術工芸 Timeless pottery 時代陶器 Material & Technique Tags Celadon glaze 青磁釉 Longquan kiln 龍泉窯 Porcelain 磁器 Funsei glaze 粉青 Crazing 貫入 Wave carving 波状文 Lotus carving 連弁文 Hand carved 手彫り High fired 高温焼成 Kiln fired 窯焼成 Iron clay 鉄分胎土 Fire color 火色 Antique ceramic 古陶磁

The term “Nanban” does not identify one specific kiln or country. In the context of Japanese tea culture and antique ceramics, it has long been used for various high fired vessels associated particularly with Southeast Asia and neighboring regions. Archaeological evidence in Japan includes imported storage jars originating from areas such as Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar, including examples with multiple lugs around the shoulder. This jar has a compact yet powerful form, rising from a relatively narrow base into a full rounded body before contracting toward the short neck. Three small applied lugs are arranged around the shoulder, a functional feature historically associated with storage and transport vessels. Its greatest attraction is the surface. The body has developed a deep range of dark brown, blackish brown, reddish brown, ochre, and earthy tones. Scattered pale deposits and firing effects create an irregular landscape across the surface. Rather than a deliberately decorative object, its beauty comes from the material itself — clay, firing, use, weathering, and considerable time. The thickened mouth gives the vessel considerable visual weight. Large portions of the rim are chipped and missing, clearly visible in the photographs. These losses are an important part of the condition and are reflected in the ★★☆☆☆ rating. No identifiable kiln mark or signature is visible. Based on its form, dark fired body, applied shoulder lugs, and overall surface character, the piece is consistent with the broad tradition generally classified as Nanban or Southeast Asian trade stoneware. However, without archaeological provenance, documentation, or an identifiable kiln mark, the exact country, kiln, and production date cannot be conclusively determined. For this reason, the attribution to Southeast Asia or Southern China and the proposed 18th–19th century dating should be regarded as an informed estimate rather than a definitive identification. The uncertainty itself is part of the character of such old utilitarian ceramics. Originally created as a practical vessel rather than an art object, it now possesses a strong sculptural presence. Its restrained silhouette and deeply aged surface work particularly well in Wabi Sabi, Japandi, rustic, and minimalist interiors. It can be displayed as an antique object in its own right or used as a flower vessel with a separate waterproof inner container. A compelling old ceramic vessel for collectors who appreciate the beauty of anonymous craftsmanship, natural firing, wear, and the passage of time. Authentic antique sourced in Japan and shipped directly from Japan. Promotional Tags Nanban Jar 南蛮壺 Antique Jar 古壺 Three Lug Jar 三耳壺 Asian Antique アジア古美術 Old Stoneware 古焼締陶器 Wabi Sabi 侘び寂び Japandi Decor ジャパンディ Rustic Decor ラスティック装飾 Primitive Art プリミティブアート Old Pottery 古陶器 Flower Vessel 花器 Collectible コレクション Asian Pottery アジア陶器 Material & Technique Tags Stoneware 炻器 Fired Clay 焼成陶土 High Fired 高温焼成 Unglazed Clay 無釉陶土 Natural Firing 自然焼成 Kiln Fired 窯焼成 Applied Lugs 貼付耳 Hand Formed 手仕事成形 Dark Firing 暗色焼成 Iron Rich Clay 鉄分を含む土 Firing Marks 焼成痕 Surface Patina 古色表面 Clay Texture 土肌質感

Measuring approximately 280mm in diameter and weighing 1840g, this is not a delicate table bowl but a substantial ceramic object with considerable visual and physical weight. The body has been formed with a broad circular profile and two integrated handles. Its lower exterior retains warm reddish-brown clay tones and pronounced horizontal throwing lines, while the upper section is covered in a pale grey-green glaze with fine crazing and scattered iron-like speckling. Around the exterior runs a broad band of dark brown and olive glaze. Rather than appearing mechanically controlled, the glaze pools, breaks and changes density across the surface, producing colors ranging from translucent olive and amber brown to almost black. The interior is even more expressive. Over the quiet grey-green ground, broad brown brush-like forms create an abstract composition of sweeping curves, loops and plant-like shapes. Areas of reddish clay or glaze break through the darker decoration, producing an unusually rich and layered surface. The decoration does not read as a conventional repeated pattern. Instead, it has the spontaneous character associated with postwar European studio pottery, where the potter treated the ceramic surface almost as a painter might treat a canvas. The underside is largely unglazed, revealing the warm granular clay body and concentric traces of wheel forming. Most importantly, an incised handwritten signature is clearly visible on the base. At present, this signature has not been conclusively identified. The bowl deserves particular attention because several characteristics — its substantial wheel-thrown construction, muted grey-green ground, brown and olive flowing glazes, exposed reddish clay and freely executed decoration — are visually comparable to Danish studio pottery produced during the 1960s and 1970s. Helle Allpass (1932–2000) is one relevant point of comparison. She was a Danish ceramic artist from a family of potters and established her own studio north of Copenhagen in the 1960s. Surviving documented works include both smaller vessels and large wheel-thrown sculptural ceramics, often combining natural clay surfaces with expressive glazes. C20Ceramics However, documented Helle Allpass pieces commonly bear variations of the marks “Allpass” or “Allpass Danmark,” and the signature on this bowl does not clearly correspond to those documented examples. Keramiksignatur For this reason, we do not attribute this bowl definitively to Helle Allpass. It is presented instead as an unidentified Scandinavian studio pottery work, possibly Danish and possibly dating from around the 1960s–1970s. The Helle Allpass comparison is provided only as a stylistic observation and not as an authentication. Regardless of unresolved authorship, the bowl stands on its own as a striking piece of studio ceramics. Its 28cm scale, heavy construction, powerful handles, exposed clay and painterly glaze make it particularly effective as a centerpiece or sculptural object in a Scandinavian Modern, Mid Century Modern, Wabi Sabi or contemporary interior. The unidentified signature also makes the piece worthy of further research. A substantial vintage studio pottery bowl whose maker remains uncertain, but whose material presence, glaze and expressive decoration are unmistakably compelling. Authentic vintage ceramic sourced in Japan and shipped directly from Japan.

Its flattened body stands upon four small feet, creating an architectural silhouette somewhere between a vessel and a sculptural object. Both broad faces are covered with different scenes of Karako, children represented in Chinese-style dress, arranged among furnishings, vessels, landscape elements, and intricate textile-like patterns. Look closely and the true character of the piece begins to emerge. Faces and hands are delicately painted against the warm ivory ground, while robes are built up with red, black, blue, white, and gold decoration. Raised gold accents catch the light across garments, borders, flowers, and geometric motifs, giving the surface an almost jewel-like relief. The narrow sides are equally elaborate. Rather than being treated as secondary surfaces, they are densely decorated with overlapping floral and geometric compartments. This continuity of ornament around the entire body gives the vessel a particularly rich presence when viewed from different angles. Beneath the decoration lies the fine network of crackle characteristic of the glazed surface, softened and deepened by age. The object also openly carries the history of its survival. It is no longer in its original complete form. Attachment areas visible on the sides indicate that projecting components once formed part of the vessel, and these are now lost. The remaining traces suggest that it may originally have functioned as a pouring vessel. Repairs can also be seen around the feet. Rather than concealing this history, the present form reveals it. What survives is the most visually compelling part of the work: two densely painted narrative panels, richly ornamented sides, the four-footed silhouette, and the remarkable interplay of ivory crackle glaze, polychrome enamels, and raised gold. The result has a character quite different from a perfectly preserved vessel. It stands today as an evocative fragment of Japanese decorative art — an object in which craftsmanship and the passage of time are equally visible. Displayed on a shelf, cabinet, desk, or within a collection of Japanese ceramics, it has enough visual complexity to reward both distant viewing and close examination. For collectors who appreciate Satsuma ware not only for technical refinement but also for the patina and individuality of surviving antique objects, this is a particularly distinctive piece. Authentic Japanese antique sourced in Japan and shipped directly from Japan.

The first impression is unmistakably Mid-Century Mediterranean: a rich raspberry-pink glaze covers the softly rounded forms, while deep violet leaves and flowers, accented with touches of warm orange, create a bold botanical composition. The contrast is particularly beautiful on the tall pitcher, where the floral decoration rises across its tapered body beneath a sculptural pouring spout and generously curved handle. The handled bowls repeat the same vivid pink palette. Their interiors carry floral decoration, giving the set a strong visual unity when arranged together on a table. Slight variations between the motifs contribute to the individual character expected of decorated studio pottery rather than the mechanical uniformity of mass-produced tableware. Vallauris, on the French Riviera in southeastern France, has a long history of pottery production. The town became particularly important to modern ceramics during the 20th century, when its traditional pottery industry developed alongside a flourishing community of artists and ceramic workshops. Aegitna was established in Vallauris in 1920 by Placide Saltalamacchia. The workshop became associated with functional and decorative ceramics rooted in the pottery traditions of southern France. This set belongs visually to the exuberant postwar period of Vallauris pottery. Its saturated color, rounded silhouettes, substantial handles and expressive floral decoration capture the optimistic decorative language associated with French Mid-Century ceramics. The set consists of one tall pitcher and thirteen handled bowls in three graduated sizes. This range makes the collection particularly attractive as a coordinated table setting. The pitcher may be used for water or wine, while the bowls lend themselves to soups, gratins, side dishes, sauces, dips or small servings. The largest handled bowls are well suited to individual soups or baked dishes; the medium size works naturally for potage, soup and side dishes; and the smallest bowls can serve sauces, dips, butter or condiments. Age has also left visible traces. Several bowls show localized glaze loss or small chips around the rims, and crazing is present in places. These characteristics are clearly visible in the photographs and form part of the set's vintage condition. Importantly, the pitcher retains its strong sculptural presence and the overall ensemble remains remarkably coherent despite its age. Finding thirteen graduated handled bowls together with their matching decorated pitcher creates a much stronger visual statement than an isolated piece. Displayed together, the repeated raspberry-pink forms produce an almost architectural rhythm—a distinctive example of colorful French table culture from the Mid-Century period. Suitable not only as functional vintage tableware but also for collectors of Vallauris ceramics, French pottery, Mid-Century design and colorful European interiors. Authentic French vintage pottery sourced in Japan and shipped directly from Japan.

The design is based on original artwork by Christian Joachim, featuring a striking arrangement of yellow and deep blue patterns encircling the central white space. These motifs abstractly represent layered pheasant feathers, from which the name "Pheasant" is derived—not from the bird itself, but from the overlapping feather forms. The plate has a slightly thicker body than standard porcelain, giving it a warm, tactile presence closer to earthenware. The backstamp includes a crown and three wave lines, a hallmark of Royal Copenhagen. This piece also reflects the legacy of Aluminia, a workshop acquired by the company, known for its distinctive use of bold colors such as yellow and deep cobalt blue. On the reverse side, there are approximately five kiln spur marks. These are traces left by small clay supports used during firing to prevent pieces from sticking together. In faience production, stacking during firing was common for efficiency, and typically three to five supports were used. The presence of five spur marks indicates that this plate was carefully supported during firing due to its weight and structure. In the world of antiques and vintage ceramics, these marks are not considered damage but rather evidence of traditional production methods. Such marks are especially characteristic of pieces produced in the Aluminia workshop lineage during the 1970s–1980s, reflecting the craftsmanship and manufacturing techniques of the time. The kiln marks on the back serve as proof that this is not a modern mass-produced porcelain piece, but a vintage object that retains the presence and touch of the artisans who created it.

Delicate pink and white lace patterns are intricately woven into the glass, creating a soft, flowing visual rhythm that shifts with the light. Each line within the vessel reflects the traditional filigrana technique, where fine glass threads are layered and shaped by hand. The result is both precise and organic—an object that feels alive, almost breathing with quiet movement. While originally intended as a watering pitcher, its sculptural presence allows it to function beautifully as a flower vase or a standalone art object. It introduces a gentle, poetic atmosphere into any space. A subtle manufacturing irregularity can be observed at the base, formed during the glassmaking process. This is not damage, but rather a trace of its handmade origin. This is not just glass—it is a moment of stillness captured in form.

Formed in a Jacobean log box style, the piece features a narrative relief scene on the lid and a printed “JACOB & Co’s BISCUITS” mark on the base, clearly linking it to the historic Jacob’s brand established in 1851. These tins were created not only to preserve biscuits, but also to visually communicate comfort, tradition, and domestic life. The surface shows age related paint loss, wear, and stains, along with a sticker mark inside the lid. These traces of time enhance the character of the piece, giving it a depth that only genuine vintage objects possess. The lid remains well aligned and closes securely, allowing it to function reliably as a storage box. Examples of this model are held in the Victoria and Albert Museum collection, underscoring its relevance as both a decorative object and a piece of British industrial design history. It stands at the intersection of everyday life, advertising culture, and craftsmanship. Whether used for storing letters, small tools, or simply displayed, it brings a quiet narrative presence into any space. old charm 古雅 quiet box 静かな箱 shelf art 棚の景色 aged tone 古色 room soul 空間映え british air 英国味 stillness 静けさ warm age 温古味 soft patina 柔古艶 calm decor 静飾り story box 物語箱 time mark 時の跡 vintage mood 古趣漂う tin can ブリキ缶 metal box 金属箱 relief lid 浮彫蓋 jacobean ジャコビアン brand mark 銘入り hinged lid 蝶番蓋 tinware ブリキ製 storage box 収納箱 british tin 英国缶 lid box 蓋付き箱 table box 卓上箱 old metal 古金属 display box 飾り箱

Unlike common glossy glass, this vase features a sophisticated matte frosted finish, a signature technique favored by Hisatoshi Iwata to suppress external reflections and emphasize the "inner glow" of the layered colors. The core is a dramatic collision of fiery red and deep midnight indigo, interspersed with gold-like metallic dust. Through the acid-etched surface, these colors radiate rather than reflect, reminiscent of a morning sun rising through a dense forest mist. The undulating rim and organic silhouette evoke the spirit of a Phoenix. The "栄" (Sakae/Prosperity) mark on the base suggests this was an exclusive commission, representing the height of Japan’s aesthetic craftsmanship.
